Tribute

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

It is with love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce that Margaret Doris Eek passed away peacefully early in the morning on June 16, 2026, at 100 years old.
Margaret’s kindness, generosity, and dedication to her family and community touched many lives.

Margaret grew up in Rossland, BC and moved to Rock Creek when she met and married her husband John on VE Day, May 8, 1945. They lived on the family farm without running water and electricity. Her indomitable spirit endured the hardships of those early years.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, John Eek, her daughter-in-law, Susan Eek, and her grandson, Scott Eek.

She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her four children, Susan (Alan) Dahlo, Dale (Wendy) Eek, Duane (Joanne) Eek, and Donald (Susie) Eek; her 14 grandchildren, Corinne, Janine, Christine, Sara, Beth, Pam, Nolan, Kaylan, Travis, Kim, Becky, Melissa, Jared, and John; and 20 great-grandchildren: Ruby, Lauren, Carly, and Matthew; Josh and Aiden; Malia and Kervenson; Tanner, Shelby and Winston; & Rosie, Evelyn, Rourke, Bryson, Rayla, Cyrus, Sullivan, Estella, and Isaac.

Her family brought her immense joy and pride. Margaret was a devoted homemaker who created a warm and welcoming home for her family and guests. She always had a tin of chocolate chip cookies ready.

Community service was an important part of Margaret’s life. She was an active member of the United Church of Canada, where her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life. She was also a dedicated member of the Women’s Institute, Royal Purple, the Rock Creek Fall Fair Association, and the Square Dance Club. In recognition of her many years of service, she was honoured as a Lifetime Member of the Rock Creek Fall Fair Association.

Margaret found great happiness in tending her garden, knitting, sewing, sharing local history, and playing crib and Yahtzee. She also enjoyed trips to Kentucky and Virginia to reconnect with her family roots, as well as visits to Disneyland and many adventures throughout British Columbia, Alberta, and Washington State.

Margaret will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, generous heart, and the love and positivity she shared so freely with her family, friends, and community. Her legacy lives on in the generations she helped shape and in the countless lives she touched through her kindness and service.

A celebration of life will be held on October 3rd, 2026 at 2 pm at the Rock Creek Fall Fair Pavilion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Church of Canada or the Rock Creek and District Fall Fair Association.

The family extends appreciation for the excellent care from the staff of Sunnybank Retirement Centre that she called home for her last years.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
