Tribute

On Monday October 31, 2011, Mrs. Margaret Moir Venables of Oliver passed away peacefully after a long illness surrounded by family at the McKinney Place Extended Care Unit at the age of 89 years.
She was predeceased by her Parents John and Annie Grant originally from Scotland, husband Bob, her brothers James and John, her sisters Ann and Nellie, her son Ron, her granddaughter Dana and her grandson Tim.
Margaret will be fondly remembered by her loving family including her daughter Joy (Lanny) and grandsons Jamie, Chad and Josh. By her son Gary (Linda) and grandson Bill (Danica), her granddaughter Lisa. By her daughter-in-law Laura , granddaughter Kelly (Brad) and great-grandchildren Riley and Aleisha, granddaughter Leanne and great-granddaughters Laura Lynn and Ashleigh, granddaughter Bobbi, her sister Betty Echlin and sisters-in-law Yvonne Moore and Effie Venables.
Margaret Moir Forbes Grant was born in Merritt on November 6, 1921. She moved to Oliver in the early 40’s and worked in the SO Supply Store. She married Bob in 1946 and had three children; Ron, Joy and Gary. Margaret enjoyed being a homemaker and particularly liked cooking and baking, playing cards, especially crib, playing yahtzee and bingo with her girlfriends. She worked in office for BC Telephone She was also a member of the Oliver United Church. Margaret loved to travel. They wintered in Arizona for twenty years. She enjoyed trips to Reno and also a tour of Great Britain with her daughter Joy.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday November 6, 2011 at the Oliver United Church. A reception in the church lower hall will follow the service.
