Marguerite Rotheisler

May 7, 1923 - March 4, 2013

Tribute

On Monday March 4, 2013, Mrs. Marguerite Rotheisler of Oliver passed away peacefully at McKinney Place Extended Care at the age of 89.

Marguerite was predeceased by her husband John in 2004, parents Moise and Margaret Boisjoli; infant sister Lillian, sisters Irene Eberle and Yvonne Janis and two brothers Roland and David Boisjoli.

Marguerite is survived by sons Ernie (Kay) Rotheisler and Randy Rotheisler (Cheriee Weichel); grandchildren John (Gillian) Rotheisler, Hollie (Darin) Tarasewich, Simon Rotheisler and Kepler Rotheisler; great-grandchildren; Jordyn and Cassidy Rotheisler, Danika and Spencer Tarasewich.

She is survived by sisters Stella (Randy) Koenig, Edna (Tony) Duchscherer and brother Gerry (Marguerite) Boisjoli; brother-in-law Ed Janis and sister-in-law Adell Boisjoli.

Marguerite was born on May 7, 1923 in Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba. Raised in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan she met and married John Rotheisler in 1941 and together they travelled to Oliver in 1947 with 4 year old Ernie in tow. Six years later Randy was born and the family was complete.

Those beginning years were hard years. She spent 25 years working in the Haynes Packing House and then many more years alongside her husband doing the books for their business Rotheisler Equipment. They not only worked together but also square danced, golfed, and curled for many years.

Later in life they did a lot of travelling to other countries as well.

Marguerite was a member of the Catholic Women’s League, the Royal Purple, the Women’s Hospital Auxiliary and the Royal Canadian Legion. She was a most avid Bridge Player and at one time belonged to three different groups playing each week. Later in life her grandchildren were her greatest joy.

A memorial mass will be celebrated by Fr. Neil Lustado at 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 23, 2013 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Oliver, BC.

An urn interment and committal will follow at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery. A reception in the church lower hall hosted by the CWL will follow the interment.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Battered Women’s Shelter, PO Box 427, Penticton, BC V2A 6J9 would be greatly appreciated. A special thank you to the staff of McKinney Place for all their help, care and support.

Condolences and tributes may be directed to the family by visiting www.nunes-pottinger.com.  Arrangements entrusted to Nunes-Pottinger Funeral & Crematorium, Oliver & Osoyoos.

Ernie & Kay. So sorry to hear of your Mum’s passing. We often talked when she came into Super Valu and enjoyed listening to her stories from the past. Thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Relation: neighbour

Dear family,
Our thoughts are with you all. Marguerite will be sadly missed in the Panorama Crescent neighborhood. A few years ago, we lost the daily ritual of John arriving home in the El Camino. Now we will miss greeting Marguerite on the way to or from the post box and waving to her in the large picture window as she sat in her rocking chair.
It is with regret that we will be unable to attend her funeral, as we are still wintering over in California.

Our condolences to you all
Russell and Christine

I have very fond memories of curling with Marguerite, many years ago. Mary Skaros was our skip, and her shots won many a game. Shirley Paccini was our third. What a fun time the four of us had.
Ernie. Kay and family, my condolences at the passing of Marguerite. Remember all the special moments you shared and treasure the happy times.
Donna
