Tribute

On Wednesday October 6, 2010 Mrs. Maria Soares Moreira of Osoyoos passed away at Mariposa Gardens after a long illness, surrounded by her family at the age of 80 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Antonio Moreira; grandsons Derek & Shawn Moreira and grandson-in-law Shawn Carrigan.
Maria will be lovingly remembered by her family including sons Dennis (Bev), Joe (Lucy) and Tony (Susan); daughters Cidalia (Eddie) and Lidia (Jess); grandchildren Rob, Michael, Jamie, Jason, Jackie (Jamie), Michael James (Cheryl), Dawn-Marie, Stacie, Amanda (Dave), Melissa (Chris) and Justin; great-grandchildren Gracie, Taylor, Evan, Brooke, Avery, Owen and Jared; her siblings Antonio Bairos, Emilia Chaves, Deolinda Sousa; brother-in-law Manuel (Deolinda) Moreira as well as many extended family and friends.
Maria worked for thirty five years with the Okanagan Similkameen CO-OP. She dearly loved her visits to see family in Toronto and Portugal. Maria was a devout Catholic and devoted mother. who loved animals and gardening.
Prayers were held at 7:00 P.M. Monday October 11, 2010 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Osoyoos, BC. A funeral mass was celebrated by Fr. Rex Velmonte at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday October 12, 2010 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery. A reception hosted by the Catholic Women`s League in the church lower hall followed the interment.
