Tribute

Maria da Conceicao Moreira passed away peacefully in Osoyoos on January 2, 2026,  at the age of 81 years.  She was predeceased by her husband, Victorino Moreira, her brother, Antonio Moura, her sister, Deolinda Chaves, and her parents, Jose Augusto and Maria Moura.

Maria is survived by her daughter, Nelia (Roger) Moreira, along with some extended family.

Born on July 20, 1944, on the Island of Santa Maria, Azores, Maria came to Canada with her parents in November of 1965, at the age of 21.  She went to work in the orchards with her family, the vineyards on Black Sage Road, even working at the packing house (Co-op) for some time.  She married Victorino Moreira in 1968, welcomed Nelia in 1973, and moved to their forever home on Peanut Pond that November, where she enjoyed her flowers, especially roses in the yard.

The family extends their gratitude to the compassionate staff at Mariposa for their kindness and care in the past ten years.

At her request, a gravesite interment at Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved late husband, will be held on Monday, January 12^th, 2026, at 11:00 am.
