Tribute

After an eighteen-month battle with cancer, Marian Gait, 76, passed away on September 3, 2018, in her home, surrounded by family.

Born Marian Beryl Rothenberg October 18, 1941, to Marno and Florence, she grew up in Maple Ridge and is predeceased by her husband Charles Gait, stepfather to her two children, Lorne Bentley and Sandra (Dave) Fedel.

Marian loved to travel with family and friends, visiting such far-flung places as the Galapagos Islands. She took adventurous jobs such as running a hotel in Churchill Manitoba and a farm on Pender Island. For the last ten years, she made her home in Oliver, BC, which she said became her favourite place to live.

Marian was happiest when outside gardening. She loved to read and continue to learn. A game of trivial pursuit was always accepted and it was always lively. She also loved to search out new recipes and was happy to have people over to try them out.

Marian will be deeply missed by her two children and her stepson Jeff Tonks, her five grandchildren, her brother Howard (Rosanne) Rothenberg and her sister Sharon (Lawrence) Salmi, her nieces and their families.

Her family would like to extend a special thank you to family friend, Lynn Eriksen, Dr. Entwhistle, her homecare team, her neighbours Karen and Samantha, her reflexologist, Sherry.
