Tribute
On Thursday April 30, 2015, Mariquita Christine Francisca (Quita) Mills of Oliver passed away suddenly at her home at the age of 85 years.
She was predeceased by her father Charles Dirk Doornik; mother Christina Henriette (nee Fabri); first husband Walter Mills and second husband Heino Best.
Quita will be fondly remembered by her sister Amelia Doornik of Lunteren, Netherlands; one cousin in the Netherlands as well as friends, neighbours and Calgary friendships.
Quita spent most of her working career as a matron of a nursing home in Calgary. She also travelled the world. Some of the places she visited were Europe, Asia, Mexico, and the U.S.A. She also loved camping, hiking, pottery, reading, gardening and painting.
Over the years, Quita was involved with the Oroville Garden Club, the Osoyoos Potters Club, the Oliver Painter Club and the Oliver/Osoyoos Naturalists. She received recognition for her pottery and painting.
A committal service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday May 12, 2015 at the Oliver Cemetery Scattering Garden followed by a reception at 1164 Fairview Road, Oliver, BC.
