Tribute

MaryLou Sylvester passed away gently and peacefully at home on July 16, 2013 surrounded by her family  and friends, at the age of 89 years.

She is lovingly remembered by her son Rick (Linda), her daughter Lynne (Glen) Krisher, son-in-law Michael Tomaszewski, seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.  MaryLou was predeceased by her husband Richard in 1993, her daughter Patti (Tomaszewski) in 1990, and brother Rod Clark in 1987.

MaryLou was an active career and business woman. For twenty-one years, she was employed as a social worker with the Alberta Dept. of Health and Social Development in Edson, AB. She loved to travel, and, after retiring, she and Rich spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona.

Curling, craft work, and all card games were among her favourite pastimes. She was an avid and excellent crossword solver.

There will be no service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted for the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation (4 – 1551 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna BC  V1Y 9M9)  and the Canadian Diabetes Association (P.O. Box 26331, Stn Brm B, Toronto, ON  M7Y 4R1).

The family wishes to thank her palliative in-home care workers; Dr. Calder, who came often to see her; and those special friends and neighbours who stepped in to help make Mom`s last months at home so special. There are angels among us. The family also appreciates the professional services provided by John Nunes and Daryn Pottinger.
