Dear Maggie & Family. I’m so sorry for your loss. Your mom was by far my favorite teacher during school. She was so understanding, patient but most of all, fun. This sweet, loving, kind hearted lady will be most by all. With sincerest condolences, Marlene & Terry

Dear ” Lougheed Family”,
Condolences to you all. Meg enriched the lives of many with her own courage and joyful zest for life. I loved her as an encouraging and inspiring teacher back in the 60’s, and all of our family has appreciated having her as our most long-term neighbour. We will miss her! May the many fond memories of her help you, and us all, through the tough parts of grieving her loss. And may those cherished memories continue to encourage and inspire.

From: Heather Frank
Relation: Family Friend

Growing up, I like others had the good fortune to call the Lougheed family, my second family. Life there was so very interesting. There was always something going on; household and farm jobs that needed to be attended to, a fruit stand that needed to be staffed and orders filled, friends and relatives dropping in to visit etc. For the kids at least, there was also time for adventures that included: a homemade slide on the side hill, an Enchanted Forest complete with a trail system, rafts on the old ox bows, hikes up to the “cave” and so on. The Lougheed household was a busy, busy place but in my eyes it was quite magical. Keeping a watchful eye over all the comings and goings was Meg. She was a person of enormous good cheer, patience and possessed a most welcoming soul. Despite already having a large family to feed, Meg always seemed to find room for at least one more child around her kitchen table. When I look back on her life, I wonder how she was able to accomplish it all. I am sure there must have been many days when she was exhausted from teaching full time, helping with the farm, and being a mother to both her family and those “extras” that joined in. I hope she knew how much she was admired and appreciated. My deepest condolences to the Lougheed family and also my thanks for sharing your Mom with so many of us over the years.

From: Carol Egri-von Kaitz
Relation: Mrs.Lougheed was my teacher.

My deepest sympathies Maggie to you and your family. Your mom was a kind, generous, and loving person. She was a mom to most of her students too. She always had time to listen, provide advise and a hug. I still see her warm smile, twinkling eyes and her muttering under her breath with a chuckle and shaking her head. A truly beatiful women. 🌹

Our deepest sympathies are with you during this time of loss. Your Mom was one of the nicest teachers at SOSS. I have very fond memories of her kindness and her beautiful smile. We hope you can find reassurance in the care of friends, and allow the loving memories you have to help you through this difficult time.

Relation: My teacher and girlfriend's Mom

Maggie and Family; My sincere condolences on your Mom’s passing. Like so many others felt she was always a favourite teacher. And was just as nice at home as she was at school! My deepest sympathies to all of you!!

From: Tony McCullough
Relation: Staff member of SOSS 1968-81

My sincere condolences to all the members of the Lougheed family. I first met Meg when I was a ‘rookie’ member of the staff at SOSS in 1968. Meg was one of the first people to welcome me to the school.

I will always remember her unfailing cheerfulness and good humour. Newcomers to staff very quickly came to recognize the formidable duo of Meg and Netta on the second floor as the real pillars of the SOSS community. Even now I remember the respect and love for Mrs.L shown by the girls whom I taught. There are surely many others who remember her with great fondness.

Meg was a proud Mum to her large ‘brood’ and I know you are all rightly very proud of her. I am truly sorry to hear of her passing.
