Mladen (Tony) Poturica

Tribute
Mladen Anton Poturica passed away on July 17th at his home in Osoyoos at the age of 62. Born February 19th, 1952 in Koprivnica, Croatia, Mladen immigrated to Canada in 1956 moving to the South Okanagan.
Mladen graduated from South Okanagan Secondary School in Oliver. He worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway before returning to the South Okanagan in the late 70's to help his family open and operate one of the valley's first estate wineries.
In the mid 80's Mladen returned to the Osoyoos area where he worked as a painter. In 2003 Mladen joined the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department as a Firefighter, serving the Anarchist Mountain Community for the past eleven years.
Mladen was predeceased by his parents Josip and Marica, and brother Silvester.
He is survived by his nephew Zachary and niece Paige and their mother Linda as well as extended family in Croatia, Germany and Austria.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 25th, 2014 at 1pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Interment and Committal to take place at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Donations gratefully accepted for the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department- 115 Grizzly Rd. Osoyoos, BC V0H 1V6.

Our ways parted a few years after high school but I always counted Tony as a friend. We did a lot when we were younger and foolish and I have great memories of some of our daring deeds. It was fun to help when they were setting up the winery and years later to be able to buy the best.
My condolences go out to the family and friends.
Tony will always live on in our memories.

Just found out about Tony’s passing. I am so sorry to hear of it . Tony was the only connection I had left (tenuous though it was) with the town of Osoyoos. He was one of the nicest people I ever knew.
Even more shocking to learn that he was the last of the family – and that Silvo even passed before their mother Mary. Very sad news. My deep condolences to Linda, Zach and Paige.
