Tribute
Muriel (1940 – 2024) passed away peacefully at the Village at Smith Creek at the age of 83.
Muriel was born in Penticton on November 23, 1940 to John and Elenore Kunz. She had 3 brothers: Garth, Brian and Paul.
Muriel graduated from VGH Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1960 where she then practiced. She became a Nursing Instructor during the 1970’s and went on to become the Director of Care for two long term care homes in Burnaby until her retirement in 1995.
She was a lifelong reader. She loved gardening, painting and crafts, taking long walks, and visiting her grandchildren in New Brunswick every summer. She was very fond of cats and enjoyed going to the stables with her friend Elizabeth to care for her horse. She would take prepared meals to her mother, Elenore in Osoyoos and loved to visit her brother Garth (Darlene) and their children Lesley and Todd and seven grandchildren. She enjoyed travelling to Arizona and California to visit her brothers Brian and Paul.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ken, parents, John and Elenore, brothers, Garth and Brian.
Muriel is survived by her son David, four grandchildren, Christian, Harrison, Bennett and Louis, her brother Paul, sister-in-law Darlene, niece Lesley (Chris), and nephews Sean (Teri) and Todd (Lisa).
We want to thank the staff of Village at Smith Creek for their kindness and compassionate care since 2019.
