Born on a family farm in Saskatchewan, Nick learned to love land, farming and gardening. After WW II he became a heavy-duty mechanic, which was his occupation for many years, and then returned to farming as an orchardist near Oliver for 19 years before retiring. As an orchardist Nick was a member of the BC Fruit Growers’ Association. Nick was a good and loving father and provided well for his family whom for him meant everything.

Nick was active and passionate in his church and in his beliefs. Over his years he was a choir member, Eucharistic minister and member of the Knights of Columbus. Nick was an outdoorsman and his passions were fishing and hunting. He belonged to the Southern Okanagan Sportsmen’s Association for many years. Nick kept a kitchen garden for all but the last few years of his life and enjoyed the new growth of spring, the tending of growing plants and the richness of the fall harvest. As an orchardist he followed the seasons of growth, fruition and dormancy closely. He loved his work.

Nick will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In remembrance of Nick, donations may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church Building Fund, PO Box 130, Oliver, BC V0H 1T0.

Nunes-Pottinger Funeral Service Staff send our condolences to family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

From: Susan McIntosh Burnett
Relation: Lillian is a close family friend.

It is with a feeling of great loss that Nick is no longer with us. I have fond memories of Nick visiting us in our home in West Vancouver when he was courting Lillian. After, when he was raising his family, he and Lillian were always gracious hosts in welcoming us into their home. Nick’s sense of humour and sincere interest in others stand out as strong personality traits.

Sincerely, Susan McIntosh Burnett

We were sorry to hear about Uncle Nick passing away, but know that through his faith in Christ, he has gone to be with the Lord and with parents, brothers, sisters, and other family members who have gone before him.

I have fond memories of Uncle Nick when I was a very young child. He gave big hugs and loved children. He was a jokester and enjoyed playing and roughhousing with us kids. And don’t ask me why, but I still remember the time we visitied Uncle Nick, Auntie Lillian and all the kids at their Prince George house in 1975 with my mom(sister Anne), his sister, and her husband, Kay & Matt Kuczyk, where Uncle Nick took a bunch of us kids to Reid Lake, After returning home, Uncle Nick picked up a guitar and sang a song about “We go swimming at Reid Lake.” I know he’ll be missed by all who were touched by his love and warmth. Rest in peace Uncle Nick.
