Patricia Geddes

October 25, 1930 - October 30, 2018

Tribute

On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, Mrs. Patricia Elizabeth Geddes of Oliver passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the South Okanagan General Hospital after a battle with leukemia at the age of 88 years.

Patricia will be fondly remembered by her loving family including her husband Michael Geddes; her children Judy , William , Jill , and Kevin ; her grandchildren Helen, Alice, Thomas, Melissa, James, Nick, Zander and Sarah; and her great-grandchildren Josephine and Arlo as well as her brother Mac Brown .

Patricia attended St. Felix School, Southwold, Suffolk, England before going to secretarial college in London. There she worked for a publisher before moving to Jesus College, Cambridge in early 1950 to be a secretary where she met Michael Geddes in 1951.

She married Michael on October 1, 1955 at Remenham Church, Henley and was married for 63 years. Patricia came to Canada in November 1957 on a boat from Liverpool, arriving in Montreal before catching a train across Canada to Vancouver with her nine month old daughter. Michael and Pat had 3 more children and made their home in West Vancouver for 56 years. She moved to Oliver BC 4 years ago to be both near her daughter, Jill and husband, Michael, now in a home suffering from Alzheimer’s.

She travelled the world with her husband. She particularly enjoyed hiking in Europe.  In the early days Patricia volunteered her time at her husband’s many field hockey and cricket events. She loved sport – she played tennis and golf and was a member of the masters swim team at Hollyburn Club, West Vancouver for several years. Latterly she enjoyed watching soccer (English football) and other sports on TV. Her other hobbies included gardening, knitting, cooking and reading. She was a member of the West Van United Church.

She will be missed hugely by her family.

Donations are gratefully accepted for the BC Cancer Agency.

I was really very sad to hear of Pat’s death. We became friends quite a few years ago when we met in the masters swim class at Hollyburn CC.
Pat was an amazing example to me in our swimming endeavours .Always determined and above all positive in her everyday outlook. I missed her companionship when she moved to Oliver but happy that we had a visit in her new home a couple of years ago.
It was a real privilege to have known Pat…an amazing lady.
My condolences to all the family .
