Tribute

On Monday February 17, 2014, Mr. Joao Paulo Barata (Paul) Santos of Osoyoos passed away after a long illness at his home at the age of 41 years.

He was predeceased by his father Fernando Santos; his paternal grandparents Maria Amelia & Carlos Santos and his maternal grandparents Maria dos Prazeres & Cesar Barata.

Paul will be fondly remembered by his loving family including his mother Laura Santos; sister Cristina Santos; brother-in-law Alex Sousa; sons Brandon and Joseph Santos as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family in Canada, Portugal and the USA.

Over the years Paul worked as a pilot truck driver between Osoyoos and the northern parts of BC and Alberta and at the Pizza Factory until he was too ill to work anymore.

Paul was a very artistically talented and loved to draw. He was also very mechanically inclined and enjoyed woodworking but especially loved fishing. Paul also enjoyed travelling and trips his trips back to Portugal as well as many places in BC, AB, and SK.

Paul was also well known for his kind heart, generosity and good nature and he was always ready to help anyone in need.

The family would like to thank Dr. Calder, the staff at SOGH, the palliative care staff, the paramedics and all the family and friends for all the compassion and support.

Donations are gratefully accepted for Amyloidosis research.

Prayers will be recited by Fr. Dave DeSouza at 7:00 P.M. Friday February 21, 2014 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Dave DeSouza at 10:30 A.M. Saturday February 22, 2014 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Interment and committal will follow at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery.
