GENEREUX, Pearl
(1929 – 2010)
Of Osoyoos, passed away at Mariposa Gardens on Sunday January 31, 2010 at the age of 80 years. Pearl was the beloved wife of Albert Genereux (d. 1992).
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Dennis Genereux (Shirley) and Bob Genereux (Cathy Rice) and by her daughter Diane Bruce. Also mourning her passing are her siblings Margaret, Olga, Nettie, Mary, Nestor, Bud and Borris. Missing their grandmother are Kal, Darrien, Thomas, Michael, Steven, Lennon, and Tristan; and great-grandchildren Kalin, Julien, Layla, and Landon.
Pearl was predeceased by her son Gary Genereux (d. 1952), and by her siblings Anne, Steve, Morris, Walter, Katherine, Ambrose, Elizabeth, Stella, Jeromy, and Joseph.
Pearl was born in Eldorena Alberta in 1929. She graduated from Alberta College, and worked first for the Alberta government, and then as the assistant secretary-treasurer for St. Albert School District #3 for twelve years.
In 1972, she and Albert moved to Osoyoos, and lived at Road 22 and Highway 97 for 28 years. From 1979 to1992, Pearl worked in Admissions at the Oliver Hospital.
Pearl moved into the town of Osoyoos in 2002, where she loved meeting new friends. She bowled at Kobau Lanes, enjoyed her Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Seniors League, and was a regular at Smittys, Tim Hortons and the Legion.
A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Rex Velmonte celebrating. A reception in the church hall followed the service.
A private interment will be held at a later date.
Pearl’s family extends their deep appreciation to Dr. DeWitte, and the staff at South Okanagan General Hospital and Mariposa Gardens. They are especially grateful to Rick and Helen Jones who tended to Mom’s every need in their absence.
Donations to the South Okanagan General Hospital Palliative Care (7139 362nd Ave, R.R. 3, Oliver, BC V0H 1T0) in her memory would be welcomed.
