Peter Gevatkoff
April 22, 1930 - August 4, 2013
Tribute
On Sunday August 4th, 2013 long-time Oliver resident Peter Gevatkoff passed away peacefully at Penticton Regional Hospital at the age of 83 years.
Peter was predeceased by his parents Steve and Annie Gevatkoff; brothers Phillip, Nick, Paul and Mike; infant daughter Susan, soon after her birth in 1963 and his devoted wife of almost 50 years of marriage, Nora in 2002.
He will be lovingly remembered by his four daughters; Irene (Fred) Roach, Linda (Earl) Scott, Christine Gevatkoff and Connie (Gary) Mythen as well as his three grandchildren Katie, Patrick and Matthew.
Peter was born in Glade, BC. He married Nora in 1953 and soon after they moved to Penticton.
Peter worked in the fruit orchards until 1962 when he and his family moved to Oliver where he started working at Trump Industries as a welder.
In 1972 Peter started working at Highland Valley Copper Mine and retired in 1992 after twenty years of service.
Family was his enjoyment. He loved taking his family out for a good dinner.
He took pride in tending to his yard and vegetable garden and enjoyed watching a good hockey game.
Pastor Henry Wiebe will officiate a funeral service on Thursday August 8th at 1:00 p.m. from the Oliver Alliance Church with a reception held afterwards in the church fellowship hall.
Graveside committal will follow at the Oliver cemetery.
Flowers or donations to a charity in Peter’s memory gratefully accepted.

I was shocked to read of the passing of Uncle Pete. I can’t begin to tell you how sorry I am but I hope it brings comfort to know that he & auntie Nora are once again together. I have many wonderful memories of our families getting together for card games or a day at the beach. I can see dad, uncle & auntie playing cards together once again. You are all in our thoughts & prayers. Love, Marlene & Terry.
