Peter Neave

April 20, 1928 - November 9, 2016

Tribute

On Wednesday, November  9, 2016, Mr. Peter Neave of Oliver passed away after a short illness at Sunnybank Extended Care at the age of 88 years.

He was predeceased by his mother Agnes Neave,(nee Geater) father Harold Hutchinson Neave and brother Hugh Neave.

Peter will be fondly remembered by his wife, Madeleine, including Dwaina Sprague (nee Neave) Brent Neave, Lori Craig (nee Neave) Mike Neave, (his children). Renay (Eng) Fisher (Foster daughter), Alyssa Brown and Jasmine Maclean (Step daughters) 8 grand children, 3 step grand children and 5 great grand children.

Peter was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan, and he has done about everything. Worked in grocery stores, sawmills, drove lumber truck, taxi, and many more. He's travelled through England with nothing but his backpack, staying in youth hostels and relatives' homes.

Peter lived in Evesham, Saskatchewan and in BC; Ootsa Lake, Francois Lake, North Vancouver, Victoria, Hope, Surrey, Smithers and Oliver.

In that time, to add to his previously listed work experience, Peter worked as a carpenter, a pastor, and an equipment driver for Surge Dairy Farm. He also bought his own janitorial service, ran a convenience store with his father and brother, worked as a janitor, and owned his own restaurant.

He came to Oliver, with his second wife Madeleine, because they were tired of the cold winters. That was in 2003.

Shortly after moving to town, Peter and Madeleine joined Park Drive Pentecostal Church, and it wasn't long after that, that the late pastor Steve Newberry offered Peter the opportunity to pastor the seniors in the church. He'd attended PAOC (Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada) Bible College in Vancouver and graduated in 1957.

You saw him at Sunnybank Centre, Heritage House, and McKinney Place. He worked with the South Okanagan Ministerial Association (SOMA), lead a hymn sing and Bible study every Wednesday at 10 a.m and regularly stops in for coffee with friends at the local A&W restaurant.

The family would like to thank Dr. S.M. Evans and Dr. Francis for all their kind care, also the Sunnybank Centre for their loving care in Peter's last few weeks of life.

The Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday November 26, at 1:00 p.m. at Park Drive Church in Oliver. Donations will be gratefully accepted to the Gideon of Canada, P.O. Box 3619 Stn. Main, Guelph, Ontario. N1H 9Z9.

Condolences and tributes may be directed to the family by visiting www.nunes-pottinger.com.
