Peter Serwo
April 28, 1932 - June 26, 2018
Tribute
Peter passed away in Penticton Regional Hospital after a short stay.
He is survived by his wife Helga, son Harry (Nancy), daughters Monika Hallett (Harold) and Romy Serwo (Darrell). Grandchildren Tom and Tanis Hallett (Randy Houle).
Peter grew up in Yugoslavia,and immigrated to Canada in 1966. A builder by trade, but a farmer at heart. He was finally able to indulge in his passion in the early 1970s. A small vineyard in Kaleden was his first venture into the grape growing business. Moving to Oliver in 1975 allowed him to expand his vineyard, and build his own castle, then known as Golden Mile Cellars. Upon retirement he and his wife moved to Penticton where they continued to enjoy the outdoors.
The family would like to thank the medical and nursing staff of Penticton Regional Hospital for their kind and considerate care.
A small family service was held in Oliver on July 26, 2018.

Hello Helga. We are so sad to hear of Peter’s passing. His picture in the paper brought back many memories for me. All the times we met when farming…. The day Peter came to me & said you wanted to sell and for me to have the farm… The conversation in your kitchen later when we closed the deal by shaking hands… having a summer drink on your patio as a break from work… and the images go on.
Peter had & has a big impact on my life. I was brought up to be honest and hard-working and Peter exhibited those characteristics every day. Our almost daily contact and his unwavering cheer & good character reinforced for me what every male should aspire to.
Peter stands in a select group along side my Father and brother and two very good friends as one of the best men I will ever have met. You and the family have every right to be very proud of Peter & his legacy.
