Robert (Bob) Gordon Wilson

May 7, 1950 - November 11, 2025

Tribute

It is the Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom, Luke 12:32. Robert Gordon Wilson, Bob, was born in Collingwood, Ontario, May 7, 1950 and on November 11, 2025, passed away at the age of 75. Bob is preceded by his youngest son, Samual Douglas William Wilson and is survived by his wife Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Wilson, and sons Matthew Robert, his wife Grace, and John Benjamin and grandson Dylan Methven. He is preceded by his brothers Douglas Wilson, Tom Wilson and Rick Wilson and is remembered fondly by his sister Barbara and her husband Murray Knights; Sue Wilson and her partner Steve Potisk; brother James Wilson and by Kathy’s family and many nieces and nephews.

Bob spent most of his life in British Columbia, where he met his wife Kathy in Oliver in 1978. Together they travelled about the province where Bob worked in a Houston sawmill, in Mission at a boat factory and as a painter in Mission and then in Oliver. Bob was an enthusiastic Bob Dylan fan and taught himself to play guitar and shared that love with his family and friends, and helped others to learn to play guitar as well. Bob loved playing and coaching hockey and was able to coach his sons throughout minor hockey in Oliver. His favourite holidays were always a trip back east to visit with family, fishing, singing, laughing and having adventures. Bob always enjoyed a good practical joke, especially on his kids and their friends. We will cherish his memory together.

Bob was “adopted” by Helmut and Laura Klassen in 1978 when Helmut told Bob he could be born again and baptized into God’s family. The family’s close bond continues through this day. Bob was surrounded by many prayers from family and friends, and on Helmut’s birthday, November 11, he was able to go and be with the Lord. Bob’s favourite Bible verse was John 3:16, for God so loved (your name) that he gave his only Son that if you would believe in Him, you will not perish but have everlasting life.
