Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Harris at Mariposa Gardens in Osoyoos on March 14, 2012. Born in Vancouver, B.C., September 4, 1914, Ron spent some time in Los Angeles, California before returning to Canada to enlist in the RCAF during the war. He served as a flying instructor at 15 SFTS, Claresholm, before going overseas to England in 1944. After the war he became a realtor and housing contractor, building many homes around the lower mainland. Ron and his family moved to Osoyoos in 1968 where he continued building homes up until the early 80’s. Ron loved fishing, golfing, and camping in their RV, but his true passion was flying and he spent many hours in the air with his son Roger. However, most important to him was his family, and we share many happy memories of camping trips and family get-togethers. He was a loving, caring Dad/Grandpa and we will miss him.

He is survived by his sons Roger (Joan) and Shane (Joanne), his daughters Maureen Ogilvy (Blair) and Anita Lees (Chris), 11 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by Lenore, his wife of 60 years. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Jackson, his brother-in-law Al Tryon, and his sisters-in-law Emma Holmes and Marie-Paule Holmes.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at the Mariposa Gardens for the kindness and compassion they showed our Dad.

A private family gathering will be held in June.
