Tribute
On the morning of Tuesday, January 1, 2019, Mr. Ruben William Fleck of Osoyoos passed away peacefully at Sunnybank Centre in Oliver at the age of 89 years.
He was predeceased by his wife Marie of 63 years, and grandson Bradon.
Ruben will be fondly remembered by daughters Connie, Bonnie and Gail; grandchildren Russell, Michelle, Melissa, Michael, Alyssa and Shawn; great-grandchildren Emily, Aidan, Jack, Audrey and Nolan, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He made many lasting friendships through his years of dealing in antiques and the businesses he founded including Gastown Bronze Shop, Colonial Brass Ltd, Cana Brass Ltd and Fourway Foundry Ltd. He was a hard worker who enjoyed helping everyone he knew.
Ruben and Marie enjoyed their time together on many road trips, cruises, winters in Arizona, time in Hawaii, summers at Birch Bay, and the cabin at McDonald Lake.
Ruben loved sharing stories with his many visitors – he loved his family, and truly enjoyed the friendships he built over his lifetime.

Condolences to all in the Fleck family. I am but an acquaintance who initially met Ruben (and Marie) through Fourway Foundry when I needed some ornate handles reproduced for a fine piece of furniture. We discovered that we lived in the same general Vancouver vicinity, and Rueben subsequently engaged me to do some property appraisal work for him. He was an interesting and considerate gentleman. May his soul rest in peace.
