December 1, 1943 - February 13, 2012

Tribute

On Monday February 13, 2012, Mrs. Sharon Priscilla Stewart of Oliver passed away surrounded by family at the South Okanagan General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 68 years. She was predeceased by her brother Bobby, her father and mother, Steve and Eunice Marrs and her mother and father-in-law, Wes and Ivy Stewart. Sharon will be fondly remembered by her loving family including husband Dennis; son Jim (Shelly), daughter Cindy (Stacey) and son Kevin; grandchildren Corey, Phillip, Wesley, Brady and Zack; great-grandchildren Sean, Dominic and Logan; sisters Joan (Jim), Dianna, Peggy and Wendy (Jim); her brother George (Sherry) as well as many extended family and friends.

Over the years, Sharon worked at IGA, Macleods, Buy-Low Foods and Oliver Farm Supplies. She was very active in her community. Sharon was involved with the Oliver Activity Club, the Oliver Air Cadets, girls softball, the Tuc-el-Nuit playground improvement committee, one-to-one tutoring at Tuc-el-Nuit Elementary School, the Oliver Legion and she taught Sunday school in Brandon, Manitoba.

Sharon deeply enjoyed camping trips to see family in Ontario, Manitoba, Edmonton and taking bus tours. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, sewing and playing crib.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday February 18, 2012 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #97 Hall, Oliver, BC with Rev. Ray Turner officiating. A reception in the hall will follow the service.

Donations are gratefully accepted for the Palliative Care Program, SO General Hospital.
