Tribute
Our beloved Shirley passed away peacefully on the morning of November 26, 2012 at her home in Mariposa Gardens in Osoyoos, BC at the age of 89. Shirl was predeceased by her husband Ken and her siblings Audrey, Dorothy, Iris, Bill, Fred and Jack. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Karen Mullen and her children, Jamie (Jackie), Jodi (Jeff), and Kristy (Doug); Son Ken Fyvie (Kathleen) and their children Andrea (Kris), Jillian, and Breanna (Chase). Shirl was a loving great grandmother to Evan, Brooke, Avery and Tyler Mullen, Paige Denton, Jayden and Alexa Schneider, Kyle, Kendall, Carson, and Courtney Mullen Knight. She will be dearly missed by her sister, Jean Huck. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews and very dear friends.
Shirl had a wonderful sense of humour and a great love for her family. Her delicious cooking was the catalyst for many a laughter-filled family gathering. Shirl had a large circle of friends who remained close throughout the years. She had a very classy sense of style, always groomed and accessorized to perfection.
Shirl loved to fish in her earlier years and spent many happy years at the family cabin at Pender Harbour. She loved the sun and shopping, combining both of these passions during vacations in Hawaii, Mexico, New York and Vegas. Shirl’s hearty laugh and quick wit sustained her through many life challenges. Her loyalty to her children, family and friends will long be remembered and cherished.
We say goodbye to Shirl knowing that we will miss her dearly. We are grateful that we had her love and influence in our lives for so long.
A very special thanks to the staff of Mariposa Gardens for their loving care over the last three years. A reception for family and friends to remember Shirl will be held in the lower mainland in December. Date and location TBA.
