Stephen Kwasnica

Tribute
On Saturday, September 29, 2018, Mr. Stephen Kwasnica of Oliver passed away peacefully at Sunnybank Centre at the age of 94 years.
He was predeceased by his wife Irene in 2009.
Stephen will be fondly remembered by his children Karen (Stuart) Syme, Marie Leiren, John Kwasnica and David (Lynn) Kwasnica as well as many extended family and friends.
He joined the RCAF in 1943 and fought bravely in WWII. After the war, Stephen became an orchardist before re-enlisting in the RCAF and becoming an Operator Mechanic as a career stationed in France, Ontario and British Columbia. He was awarded the WWII Medal, Long Service Medal, NATO Medal and the Voluntary Service Medal. After serving his country, Stephen settled in Oliver, BC, bought an orchard until retirement.
Over the years, Stephen enjoyed a trip to Israel and an Alaskan Cruise.
Stephen was always very active in his community volunteering his time as a member and president of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Knights of Columbus and the RCAF Association.
Stephen was a handyman and loved to work on vehicles and tractors, he also enjoyed woodworking and building violins.
Donations are gratefully accepted for the Canadian Cancer Society, 102 – 1433 St. Paul Street, Kelowna, BC V1Y 2E4.
Prayers will be recited at 6:00 pm, Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic Church.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Monday, October 15, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic Church followed by interment and committal at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery. A reception in the church lower hall will follow the committal.

Horst & I will miss Steve very much. He was a Gentleman & Scholar to the
end. We first met him at our local Legion in Oliver on Friday supper nights. He always had a warming smile & a joke to share. He would come with his cane in hand & softly say ‘I’m going to park my horse in the corner’ and enjoy your company. We visited him as often as we could, while he was still in his home & once he was at Sunnybank. He will be remember always – may he RIP, united with his beloved Irene.
