Steve Schmidtka

December 8, 1934 - August 12, 2013

Tribute

Surrounded by his family, Steve Istvan Schmidtka passed away at Mariposa Gardens on August 12, 2013 at the age of 78 years.

Steve is lovingly remembered as a wonderful husband by his wife of thirty-four years, Beverley Schmidtka.  He will be missed by his brother Leslie, and his three step-children Steven Gamble, Andrea Wood, and Len Duby. Steve was predeceased by his parents, one sister, and one brother.

Steve was self-employed as a building contractor in Calgary for over twenty years. For five years, he worked at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary Alberta, where he was honoured with the 1986 appreciation award for “Facility of the Year – Housekeeping”.

Steve loved vacationing by motor home, especially to Yuma, Arizona and Puerta Vallarta, Mexico.  Collecting coins and stamps was a favourite hobby.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday August 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Osoyoos Baptist Church, with Pastor Phil Johnson officiating, following burial at Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery.
