Sylvia Rose Irene da Silveira
March 21, 1941 – June 21, 2025
On Saturday, June 21, 2025, Sylvia Rose Irene da Silveira of Oliver passed away peacefully after a short illness at the age of 84. She is survived by her loving husband, Mateus; her two sons, Jason and Ken; two grandchildren, Cody and Mathew; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Sylvia started her career as a librarian at the Okanagan Regional Library in Oliver, where she worked until retirement. Not one to sit idly, after retiring from the library, Sylvia went to work at Walmart in Penticton as their pharmacy technician.
She spent some time in Greece in 1971 and often reminisced about that experience.
In her free time, she enjoyed reading and researching her family history as well as spending time with her friends and family.

I remember Syliva from the Oliver Library. Someone already said, always with a smile, but that can’t be stated too often! I came in weekly with three children in tow and she was kind and caring and helpful. My condolences to the family.
