Terri Kinrade

Tribute
On May 16, 2023 Terrant (Terri) Kinrade passed away after a short, courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Marg and proud father of Mike, Geoff and Bryan (Cassidy). He was Poppa to Finn, River and Reya. He leaves behind many family members including his brothers Kim (Heather), Jay (Judy), Lanny (Bev), Jody (Colleen) and a sister Shaunna. Also, his sisters-in-law, Shirley (Bob) and Barb as well as his mother-in-law, Grace. His many nieces and nephews are Samantha, Tony, Brett, Shane, Kevin (Kandyce), Mahrie (Joel), Kisha (James), Danielle (Matt), Jaclyn (Jason), Derek (Amanda), David, Ryland, Julia, Natasha, Gisele and Cosinti. His great nieces and nephews are Bradley, Zach, Presley, Scarlette, Lawson, Frankie, Zia, Eric, Aubrey and Aidan.
Terri was predeceased by his mother, Esther and father-in-law, Ken.
TK (as he was known to most) was born May 23, 1948 in Kimberley, BC. After graduating High School in Kimberley, he worked for Cominco in Pine Point and Greenland before moving to Vancouver and attending BCIT to attain his Instrumentation Diploma. He moved to Nelson in 1976 and shortly after met and married Marg. TK worked for the Ministry of Environment for most of his life in Nelson taking a couple of years to work with his father-in-law Ken as a home renovator. Upon retiring TK and Marg moved to Oliver to help his brothers with a winery and renovations. In both Nelson and Oliver, TK was involved with the community giving back in appreciation for the nurturing his community provided his family. He has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, messages and visits from friends near and far in the past few weeks.
From our first visits to hospital in Penticton and Kelowna we have been so impressed with the kindness and quality of care provided by the people working in our Health Care System. Though they are working long hours in overcrowded conditions they always greeted us with smiles and empathy.
With the support of his sons, TK has been able to be at home the past few weeks where they have taken care of his every need and shared endless memories of their lives. A special thanks to Erica and Brittany for their emotional and daily support.
TK had an obsession with fishing, making it his absolute favorite pastime. He would dedicate countless hours to exploring Kootenay Lake, always in pursuit of reeling in another big one. In the future, the family plans to hold a personal tribute at his cherished cabin on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake

Lost touch with TK after leaving MOE for Celgar in 1992 but remember very fondly how he profoundly influenced my commitment to energy from woodwaste. Only TK could make a video of me promoting this regional MOE policy change. Wow, was I a poor actor! TK was in my thoughts when Celgar started up its woodwaste to energy project in 2011 and I was able to retire. In my 48 years of work, TK stands out as one of a very few “inspiring co-workers” – never to be forgotten – many Thanks Jim

I would like to pass on my condolences to the family. I roomed with Terri for one year at NDU along with John Kennedy. I saw him a few times over the years at hockey rinks as Geoff and my son played in the same league for a while. TK was always good for a laugh in those years and was a great guy to be around. I am sure he will be sorely missed by everyone.
