Tribute

The family of Thelma Glover (born Saunders) is greatly saddened to announce her passing on January 20, 2010 at Penticton Regional Hospital at the age of 68 after a brief illness. She left us peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, and will be dearly missed.

The beloved daughter of Elizabeth Saunders, Thelma was raised by her grandparents David Stuart Saunders and Grace Clarkson of Scotland, Predeceased by her loving husband Frank on October 8, 2000, she is survived by her son George Stuart Robert Goodall of Edmonton, Alberta; cousin Grace Munday of Dundee, Scotland; son Frank James Glover of Oliver, British Columbia; son Bernard Richard Glover of Osoyoos, British Columbia; nephew Brian William Grainger and niece Nadine Bernice Grainger, both of Fort McMurray, Alberta; grandchildren Devin, Jamie, Frank, Aubrey, James, Nathan, Kenneth, Cherylin and Angela; and great-grandchildren Kaden, Kalia, Kiana, Micah, Benjamin, and Quinn.

Thelma arrived in Canada from Scotland in 1957 to live with her sister Janet in Edmonton. Thelma and Frank married on March 2, 1964 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She became a citizen of Canada on October 24, 1975 and they owned a building maintenance company in Victoria, BC for many years before retiring to the Okanagan in the early 1990”s. Always ready to help others, Thelma served as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was an active member of Oliver Lodge #63 of the Royal Purple. A past Honoured Royal Lady, she served as Chaplain for District #7 and worked tirelessly as a member of the Lodge for more than a decade.

Visitations followed by cremation to be arranged by Nunes-Pottinger Funeral Services of Oliver. A memorial in honour of Thelma”s life will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 1 PM at the Oliver Elks Lodge. Internment of a symbolic portion of the ashes will take place at the Oliver Cemetery. In accordance with Thelma”s wishes, the remainder of her ashes will be joined with those of her husband and cast on the waters of Rocky Lake, Manitoba.

Donations in lieu of flowers or gifts may be made to the Elk”s and Royal Purple fund for the Children”s Speech and Hearing Centre in Surrey, BC.
