Tribute

On Monday December 23, 2013, Mr. Theodore (Ted) Hannas of Oliver passed away at the South Okanagan General Hospital after a short battle with cancer at the age of 86 years.

He was predeceased by his brothers Nick, Mike, Alex, John and Albert; sisters Mary, Nellie, Katie, Effie and Audrey.

Ted will be fondly remembered by his loving family including wife Eva of 59 years; daughters Gloria (Marcel), Connie (Bryan), Brenda (Ron) and Patti (Darrin); grandsons Leonard (Lora), Robert (Jessica), Michael, Daniel and Logan.

Ted was born in Ryecroft, Alberta. He grew up and farmed the family farm for many years. In 1969, he went to work for the Alberta Wheat Pool buying grain in Clairmont, Alberta until 1982. Following that he went to work for the Grande Prairie school district being a caretaker of Avondale Elementary School until his retirement in 1991. Ted received a Certificate of recognition from the Alberta Wheat Pool and a Certificate of Exemplary Service from the school. After retirement, he and Eva started traveling around Canada and the US and discovered that they loved Oliver. So after house sitting for three winters, they decided to make Oliver their new home. It was a wonderful move as Ted and Eva became very active in the Seniors Centre and did a lot of traveling but the activity that Ted loved most was dancing. He also enjoyed woodworking, curling and golfing.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday January 4, 2014 at the Oliver Seniors Centre.
