Thina Tina Thompson

Tribute
On Wednesday April 28, 2010, Mrs. Thina Ruda Thompson passed away peacefully in her sleep at the McKinney Place Extended Care Unit at the age of 89 years.
She was predeceased by her sons Doug and Ron and grandchildren April and Dylan.
Thina will be fondly remembered by her loving family including daughter Elaine (Ken) Lewis, son Floyd (Barb) Thompson; daughter Connie (Lyle) Nordheimer; daughter-in-law Christine Thompson; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren as well as many extended family and friends.
A private family graveside urn interment will be held at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery.
Donations in Thina’s name are gratefully accepted to McKinney Place Extended Care Unit, R.R.#3, 7139 – 362nd Avenue, Oliver, BC V0H 1T0.
Thina’s family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all the people who cared for Thina at McKinney Place, the Elks Golden Villa and Heritage House.

I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new,
I thought of you yesterday and days before that too,
I think of you in silence and often speak your name,
All I have is memories and your picture in a frame.
It broke my heart to lose you but you did not go alone,
A part of me went with you the day God took you home.
Your memory is my keepsake with which I’ll never part
God has you in his keeping I have you in my heart.
To a wonderful mother who will be sadly missed. You gave me life and taught me well, I will always be grateful.

Thina was laid to rest on May 5, 2010 at Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery. It was an intimate and beautiful ceremony and I would like to share one of the readings. READING: “I AM THE WIND”

WHEN THE WIND CARESSES THE BOUGHS,
AND THE LEAVES RUSTLE WITH DELIGHT;
REMEMBER THINA,
WHEN THE SUN WARMS THE EARTH,
THE GRASSES GREEN AND SPRING BLOOMS;
REMEMBER THINA,
WHEN THE GENTLE RAIN BEADS ON YOUR CHEEK,
WHEN EVERYTHING IS FRESH AND NEW;
REMEMBER THINA,
WHEN YOU TOUCH THE EARTH
AND IT GIVES FORTH ITS TREASURE INTO YOUR HAND;
REMEMBER THINA,
BECAUSE SHE IS THE EARTH AND THE RAIN;
SHE IS THE SUN AND SHE IS IN THE WIND;

I never really knew you, you didn’t want me to. My momm and I are very close, I know she would want us to. So, better now than never, after all you need to know… if my mother loves you like I do her, then our love would always grow … It breaks my heart to see her sad, so now I will cry too. Thank you for the sacrifices, all the pain that you went through. You gave me the most beautiful mother, so kind, and gracious You, know you taught her well, she is strong, loving, and true, if these are also some of your traits then I wish I knew you too… There is no me without you, I love you, and thank you, grand mother…thank you!
