Tribute
On Wednesday, November 9, 2016, Mr. Thomas (Tom) George Wooldridge of Oliver passed away after a year long illness comforted by his friends and family at the age of 91 years.
He was predeceased by his father Thomas in 1926; mother Monica in 1978; sisters Mary in 2011, Nellie in 1998, Peggy in 1993, Catherine in 1991, Bessie in 1952 and Molly in 1920 as well as brothers Jack in 2005 and Tony in 1925 and his second wife Sylvia (nee Kaiser) in 1999.
Tom will be fondly remembered by his loving wife Anita; step-children Cecile (Barry) Underdown, Peter Briard, Suzanne Briard, Aline Colameco, Gilles (Brenda) Briard, Alain (Kim) Briard, Julie (Lawrence) Isaac and Ed (Vickie) Huffman; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews back in England.
Tom immigrated to Canada in 1955 and settled in Oliver in 1956 and spent his working years as a self-employed farmer/orchardist.
Over the years Tom enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Arizona, Israel, England and France. His hobbies included stamp collecting, watching NHL hockey, discussing politics and religion as well as square dancing.
Tom was always willing to help out a neighbour, a friend or a stranger when in need.
A Funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Neil Lustado at 2:00 PM Saturday November 19, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Oliver, BC. Cremation will follow. An urn interment and committal will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday November 20, 2016 at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery.
Donations are gratefully accepted for the Canadian Cancer Society.
