Thor Ohlund
October 14, 1943 - July 16, 2017
Tribute
On Sunday, July 16, 2017, Mr. Thor Henning Ohlund of Oliver passed away peacefully in his sleep at the South Okanagan General Hospital after a short battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 73 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Aina and Karl Ohlund and daughter Kerri Ohlund.
Thor will be fondly remembered by his loving family including wife Adele Ohlund; son Brent Ohlund and daughter Leanne Ohlund (Léonard, Juliette)
He enjoyed a long career working for BC Hydro, West Kooteney Power and Fortis BC.
Thor enjoyed beach vacations in Mexico with family. He recently travelled to his birthplace in Sweden to visit family and tour Sweden and Norway by train. His last vacation was to France in October 2016 to visit Leanne and Pierre and two grandchildren.
Over the years he was an active member of the Oliver Curling Club, a past member of the Oliver Bowling club and attended the Breakfast Club at the Elks Hall.
Thor was a generous community member and neighbour and would never hesitate to help anyone from yard work to painting a fence.
He also enjoyed watching sports, having a beer with buddies, science fiction, astronomy and reading Consumer Reports (to find the best deals).
In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted for the Canadian Cancer Society, 102 – 1433 St. Paul Street, Kelowna, BC V1Y 2E4.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery followed by a reception at the Oliver Elks Hall.
