Todd Phillips

March 25, 1947 - August 8, 2023

Tribute

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Todd Mathew Phillips, age 76 of Osoyoos BC, who left us peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 with his loving wife Linda by his side. Todd was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was the first child born to Mathew A Phillips and Audrey Doreen Phillips (Nee Todd) in Bissett, MB, in 1947. This was where he enjoyed his growing years until 1957 when the family moved to Nelson, BC.  Todd was the eldest of 9 children.

As a young man, Todd saw opportunity in Kenora, ON where he worked for awhile and enjoyed time with relatives and friends in that area. However, the lure of the Kootenays brought him home and it soon became clear that Todd was destined to be a businessman.  He owned and operated several businesses in the Nelson/Castlegar area before again moving away to engage in new adventures. Todd eventually met, courted and married Linda, the love of his life, and together they owned two popular restaurants in Osoyoos, BC.  After toiling for many years as restaurateurs, and not yet ready for retirement, the couple sought new opportunities so they sold the restaurants and secured positions with a mining company near Princeton, BC.  Todd was employed as a Logistics Coordinator for the mine and worked there until illness forced him to stop.

Todd was an avid golfer and both he and Linda played regularly at the nearby Osoyoos Golf Course. If not playing, Todd might be found on the driving range helping juniors with their game. Todd enjoyed the challenges associated with golf which might include an oft-time wager on the outcome.  He took the same winning mindset to the poker table when he met with his buddies at their evening poker games.

Todd had an intrinsic mischievous side that few knew about and that only became apparent when he decided it appropriate. The resultant good natured pranks often came at the expense of friends and family.  Sadly, Todd will be missed by those who loved him the most and by all those who knew and understood his unique wit and demeanour.

Todd is predeceased by his parents, his brother Kelly and sister Tracy.  He is survived by his wife Linda; sons Jason and Luke; stepchildren Kirk (Tanya), Lauri and Tom (Kaitlyn); grandchildren Emily, Kyla, Sullivan, Mason, Mack, Koby, Jen, Nichol and Nigel who will miss him dearly. Siblings, Keith (Lori), Shari (David), Kirk (Luzie), Cameron (Linn), Kimberlee (Denny), and Shawn; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

May He Rest in Peace
