Victorino Moreira

Tribute
Victorino Sousa Moreira passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at South Okanagan General Hospital on October 13, 2014 after a long but courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 2, 1939 on the island of Santa Maria, Portugal where he loved tending to his family's cattle until 1960 when he proudly served his country in the army. In May 1968 he married Maria Moura and immigrated to Osoyoos, BC Canada to join her. In 1973 had their daughter Nelia. He enjoyed getting out and living, including a few trips back to the old country and different, more local destinations. He will be remembered for his garden, his green thumb, love of laughter, helping people, family gatherings, and his hard working attitude.
He is predeceased by his mother, father, 6 brothers, and 2 brothers-in-law. He will be missed by those he leaves behind, his wife, Maria of 46 years; daughter, Nelia; sister-in-law, Deolinda Chaves; sister, Maria Freitas; and brother Antonino Moreira, and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, the United States and Portugal.
Prayers will be held Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Dave DeSouza on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. Interment and committal will follow at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery.
