Tribute
Wayne Mei Kui Chee passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2025 peacefully in his sleep.
He was predeceased by his father, Wing Jim Chu and his mother, Hang Wen Wong.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rose. Also by his son, Carlos, and his partner, Kim and their children, Trinity, Mackenzie, Jaelyn, L, Ben and Tiago. His daughter, Amie, her husband and their children, Jaxon, Loken, Vasco and Rourke.
Wayne was one of 9 children, he is survived by Joanne, Ed, Betty, Bill, Mary, Nancy, Peter and Henry. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.
He worked at various jobs but his longest job was at Lifelabs as a courier and then as a Logistics specialist. He retired in 2016 after 30 years of service.
During his time at Lifelabs he became a steward and then served as the Local Chair 403. Adamant to support his co-workers he made history by bringing Lifelabs to its first strike in their history. He walked all the picket lines as he bargained for better working conditions and fair living wages. He felt very strongly believed in fairness for all.
Although Wayne was not very interested in travelling, before he met Rose, but because of her love of adventure he indulged her. Very quickly becoming an enthusiastic traveller. He humoured her by riding camels, elephants, climbing pyramids, and even sleeping in a convent.
Wayne also leaves behind his beloved pets, Taiwan, Fiji, Neve, Grizzly and India. There was never a dog who needed a home that he could resist. His day revolved around them. He also had 3 barn cats who were supposed to be feral but after his loving care were the sweetest kittens, always looking for his affection.
RIP my true love my soulmate.

Jodene and I were very sorry to hear about Wayne’s passing.
I’ve known Wayne since high school. I recall some great memories of our poker nights, softball games and road trips.
Wayne and Rose were great for each other. We missed them after they moved to Osoyoos.
It was great visiting them in Sept 2021.
Rest in Peace Wayne.
