William Mabey

March 21, 1928 - August 23, 2015

Tribute

On Sunday, August 23, 2015 Mr. William Charles Mabey of Osoyoos passed away at the South Okanagan General Hospital at the age of 87 years.

Bill was born March 21, 1928 in Plymouth England. After grade school he joined the RAF and was released in 1948. He drove double-decker bus in England before moving to Canada in 1957. He had many jobs in Canada from running his own trucking company to driving the Zamboni at the West Kelowna ice rink. Retirement brought him to Osoyoos where he happily lived out his remaining years.

Bill passed away a happy man who was always willing to wave to anyone passing by his 89th Street and 26 Avenue deck in Osoyoos. He took great pride in looking after his place, mowing and watering lawns right to the very end. It was the interior health care aid program that made this possible, He was loved by many.

Bill was survived by his son Robert Mabey; daughter Susan Eykelbosh; son-in-law Paul Anderson; grandchildren Kiera Mabey, Jenna Mabey, Jesse Eykelbosh, Jerahmy Eykelbosh and Trystan Anderson. He is also survived by two adult children in Australia, Terrance and Geraldine.

As requested, there will be no service, however we welcome all condolences, tributes and especially stories posted to the Nunes-Pottinger Funeral Service website as these will be shared at a private family gathering for Bill.

Sincere condolences to Bill’s Family.

I met Bill several years ago. Over the years we shared many conversations on many different topics. I always looked forward to my next meet with Bill. I admired the way Bill looked after his yard and the surrounding orchard. Bill’s pride in keeping things trimmed and clean, even in his declining health years, was an inspiration to me.
Bill’s forthrightness, his honesty and, integrity will be missed by everyone that knew him…myself included.

Warmest regards.

From: Bill and Darlene
