Tribute

Local businessman Bryon Strobbe passed away Tuesday June 3 at the age of 72 years after a tough battle with emphysema. He was pre-deceased by his mother Dorothy and father Paul, his ex-wife Carol and his loving dog Sadie.

He is survived by his three sons, Scott of Summerland, B.C., Brent of New York City and Ryan of Gold River, B.C. and a brother, Dennis of Victoria, B.C.

Bryon grew up in the Okanagan in the roaring 1950′s and started working and looking after himself from a very young age. He built a house in Kaleden with his own two hands, and with very little money, for his family to live in. He was a self taught mechanic with a special touch for auto repair who achieved his dream of being his own boss when He took over the corner Texaco gas station in Oliver in 1976. His hard work and fair treatment of his customers paid off and allowed him to be very successful at running the shop for many years.

Bryon loved Oliver and greatly enjoyed spending time at his work with his many local friends and customers. He was a curler and loved to watch the Brier on T.V. as well as the Canucks and the Lions. In his better years He enjoyed going to yard sales and exploring the back roads and the great outdoors with his dog.

He was a loving Father, a good friend ,and a genuinely thoughtful and caring person to everyone that he met. Congratulations Dad on a life well lived.

By his request, there will be no service. Dad and Sadie will be together again forever in a place they both enjoyed. He just wanted anyone who was his friend to remember him in their own way, and to say ” thank you Oliver” for all the great years.
