C. Neil Mceachnie

April 26, 1932 - January 20, 2012

Tribute

Neil passed away peacefully at home on January 20, 2012 at the age of 79.

He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his loving wife Bonnie, children Ken(Carolyn), Cindy(Jim), Darren, Toby(Kimberly), Stefanie(Chris) and Christina and grandchildren Riley, Taylor, Nolan, McKenzie, Finlay, Grayson, Gabriela, Michelle, Christina and Hunter.

Neil was an outstanding athlete playing for the Pacific Coast League, the Arsenal Football Club (1949-1951) and was part of the Canadian representative team that toured the United Kingdom and Soviet Union in 1960. Known as ‘Nellie’ to his golf buddies, he loved the game and the camaraderie. In 1991, Neil and Bonnie retired to Penticton after a 35-year career with BC Hydro. Retirement allowed Neil to fully enjoy golf, gardening and watching hockey and soccer. He was influential in the lives of many and never had a problem sharing his opinion. He, along with his generosity, spontaneity and enthusiasm for life will be greatly missed.

No service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.

Dear Bonnie and family,
Paulette and I were saddened to hear of Neil’s passing. He was a very special person and will be missed. His brand of humor and his passion for the game of golf were well known. The twinkle in his eye when he caught up to you on the fairways of Fairview Mountain were the things we looked forward to during his tenure as ” Marshall “. Please accept our condolences for your loss.

Relation: Friend and former teammate.

I had lost contact with Neil since his move to the Kelowna. I have fond memories of the man. A gifted athlete and a character. He was one of a kind and will be missed by those with whom he came into contact with in life and on the field of play. . My condolences to the family.

From: Joe and Leslie Ralla
Relation: Friend

We would like to offer our sincerest condolences. I have known Neil for about 45 years. I watched him play soccer and golfed with him in the same foursome at Langara golf club. After Neil moved to OK Falls we stayed in touch and reminisced about his many friends in Vancouver; his exploits on the soccer pitch and golf course. We also talked of our physical handicaps and I will miss the verbal exchanges which brought laughter to us both. Neil, I know that you are now pain free and in a wonderful place. You will be missed, Joe & Leslie

Please accept our condolences on Neils passing. I enjoyed my chats with him at the PG&CC. He made me smile when I saw him and he always made me laugh during our talks. I know he is out of pain now and am sure you all will miss him. Jan

I grew up with Neil in the South Main area of Vancouver. We played on the same soccer team and played golf with him at Langara. He was a good friend and a real character. I enjoyed every minute I was with him. My condolences to the family.
