Carol Lydiatt

March 22, 1947 - May 31, 2024

Tribute

In Loving Memory of Carol Ann Lydiatt, Beloved Daughter, Mother and Cherished Friend

Carol, age 77, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2024 in Penticton BC, surrounded by her loving children, Tracy Lydiatt (47) and Brian Lydiatt (44). She is predeceased by father Edgar Tolman Brock, mother Sylvia May Brock (nee Croxford) and brothers, Alan Edgar Brock and Gerry Peter Brock. Her departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Born on March 22, 1947 in Penticton BC, Carol was a woman of remarkable strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication. She had a passionate career as a dental assistant which spanned over five decades supporting over 40 dentists in multiple countries, where she touched the lives of countless patients with her skillful hands and compassionate heart. Her commitment to excellence and genuine care for others made her a respected figure in her profession and a source of comfort to many.

Carol also took the opportunity to work for Tinhorn Creek Winery and spent ten joyful years on the front line as their official ”greeter” and is still fondly remembered for her warmth, wit and cheerful nature.

Carol was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Stephen Edward Lydiatt of 40 years, a nurturing mother to her two children, and a pillar of strength for her family and friends. Her infectious laugh, quick wit, and endless repertoire of jokes and stories brought joy to all who had the pleasure of her company.

As the president of the local riding club for over 10 years, she shared her passion for horses and the outdoors with fellow enthusiasts, fostering a sense of camaraderie and community spirit. Quiet times for Carol were also spent with the love of reading, hand crafts, quilting, gardening, attending live theater and baking.

Carol will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew her. Though she may no longer walk among us, her legacy of love, laughter, and “pay it forward” spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives she touched.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, July 20th, starting at 3pm at 6515 Park Drive (Oliver, BC) where all are welcome to come together to honour her memory and share stories of her remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Moog Hospice House or Desert Valley Hospice Society.

May Carol’s soul rest in eternal peace, knowing that she has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Tracy, Brian and family, we are sorry for your loss. We were good friends over the years and Carol was so cheerful and loved her life, work and leisure times. We had a lot of laughs with Carol and Steve over the years and are sad that she is no longer with us.

We were so saddened to hear of Carol’s passing. We were neighbours to the Lydiatts on Nicola St in Kamloops in the 1980’s. And then to our surprise we met again when they moved to Oliver and us to Osoyoos. It was always a delight to run into Carol and do a little catch-up because she always had a funny quip to share. Thinking of you, Steve, Tracy and Brian.

Condolences to Tracy, Brian and family. I always enjoyed my visits with Carol, a very special person. Your family home was originally my grandparents home, and your Mom invited many of our family members to come and see the house, and what she had done with it. My cousins from Norway were surprised and pleased that your Mom would welcome them to the house. Carol will be missed.
