Tribute

On Wednesday December 23, 2009, Mr. Cesar Soares of Oliver, passed away peacefully at McKinney Place Extended Care Unit at the age of 80 years.

He was predeceased by his son Fernando on May 24, 1975 and his half brother Chris Campos.
Cesar will be fondly remembered by his loving family including devoted wife Maria of 58 years; son Jose Luis and wife Joanne of Prince George (grandchildren Shauna and Steven), son Michael and his wife Alesia of Cumberland (grandchildren Mateus and Neves); former daughter-in-law Sandy, (grandchildren Jason and wife Pam) and great-grandchildren Bailey, Dylan, Tyson, Kelly and Landon.

Cesar immigrated to Canada in 1957 to Montreal, working in agriculture. After a short time he moved to British Columbia to work in Blue River, loading boxcars with lumber from the sawmill. In 1963 his wife and children arrived to Canada. After travelling through the Okanagan Valley, Cesar moved his family to Oliver in 1966.

Cesar was very involved with Christ the King Catholic Church as an usher and with the Knights of Columbus. Cesar loved working outside in his yard, gardening and his little vineyard. Cesar loved making his wine and sharing it with many family and friends.

Prayers were held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday December 29, 2009 at Christ the King Catholic Church. A funeral mass was celebrated by Fr. Sebastian Puthenpura at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday December 30, 2009 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Cesar was laid to rest in the Oliver Municipal Cemetery following mass. A reception was then hosted by the CWL in the church lower hall.

A funeral mass for the late Cesar Soares will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday December 30, 2009 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Oliver, BC with celebrant Fr. Sebastian Puthenpura. Cesar will be laid to rest in the Oliver Municipal Cemetery following the mass. A reception in the church lower hall will be hosted by the CWL following the interment.
