Edward Greenwood

July 23, 1944 - December 31, 2021

Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Edward Frank Greenwood on December 31st, 2021 from COVID-19.

Ed was predeceased by his father Frank Greenwood, his mother Joan Sandulac, his first wife and mother of his children, Florence Greenwood (December 26, 2017) and second wife Katie Greenwood (December 22, 2021).

Ed is survived by his girls, Jo-Deane Ann James (Matthew), Jenelle Louise Steele (Steve), April Lynn Starchuk (Mark), his brother Doug Greenwood (Diane) and his seven grandchildren, Katelyn, Megan, Luke, Kaleb, Noah, Kiah and Reyhan.

After spending 6 years in the Air Force, Ed married Florence in 1968 in Quesnel, BC. Ed and Florence then moved and settled in Cache Creek, BC in approximately 1974 where Ed started his career with Greyhound Canada.  When the Coquihalla Highway was completed in 1985 the family relocated to White Rock, BC and then finally to Oliver, BC in 1990. Sadly, Florence passed away in December of 2017 after a long battle with Cancer. Ed married Katie in September, 2018.

In his retirement, Ed’s passion was Missions work.  He spent many of his retirement years on various missionary trips including traveling to Russia, Union Island and Moldova but Ed’s love was especially found in the people and relationships he built over the years and many many trips to Mexico.

Edward (Papa) you will be so deeply missed.  Forever in our hearts.  Rest easy.

It was with sadness that we learned of my cousin Edward’s passing. Sandra and I pass our sincerest condolences to the family, his daughters Jo-Deane, Jenelle, April and brother Doug (and Diane) and all his beloved grandchildren.
My memories go back to his birth, when he and his Dad and Mom along with his brother Doug lived near us in the Alliston Ontario area, before moving to BC. I also recall him showing up unannounced at our door in Montreal, cowboy hat and all during his air-force days, not a care in the world.
Bon voyage cousin, we will meet again.

This last few days, I’ve been thinking back on many memories of Edward! My husband’s nephew, Ed looked up to my husband and they made many memories together! Like the night after Jo Deane was born, I smile thinking about it! Bad boys celebrating Ed’s first born daughter! At the time Ed and Florence where living in Alliston Ontario!
After my husband’s passing, Edward always made a point in still checking in on me! As he always did before Walter passed. Just to say “ hi “, how are you doing! I will miss those calls!
Edward had a way of listening, and that spark in his eyes when he smiled,
My heart goes out to Edwards brother Doug who will miss him I’m sure, but with many fond memories, it will heal,. His beautiful daughter, I can’t imagine how your all feeling! Jo Dean, Jenelle and April, as you know, your Dad loved you dearly, remember the wonderful memories you have of him.
There is likely a little scotch being pasted around in heaven the last couple days, a reunion in heaven.
I pray Ed’s family finds strength to remember the great memories you all have of him. You will miss him, his grandchildren will miss him, as will I, but we have fond memories to hold on to!
Garry and I will miss his visits, his calls, his caring words!
Time heals, – We send our Love, our Prayers,

My heart goes out to JoDean, Jenelle, and April, and brother Doug, I can’t image how you are feeling these last few days! I will miss his monthly calls to check in on my and see how I’m doing! I meet Edward and Florence when they moved to Alliston, Ontario, about a year before I married Ed’s uncle! Now there was bad boys, first thing I remember when I think of Walter and Ed is when Ed daughter Jo Dean was born!
Ed and Florence made me feel like family immediately, and we had many a long chat. I will miss his call, his support!

Ed was a man I loved to run into. He always had a smile and a story to share which always brightened my day. I worked with Florence at the Credit Union and the two of them made such a wonderful couple. I know how much this loss will be felt by all who knew him and especially by his girls and their families. Hugs to you all as you navigate this loss together.

Ed lived out James 1:22-25 where it speaks of the importance of being a doer of the word not just a hearer. Ed was a doer, with such enthusiasm, passion and compassion. Heaven has gained, but we have lost a very special man whose shoes will be hard to fill.
