Tribute

On Monday April 19th, 2010, Mr. Frederick Richard “Fred” Beamish of Oliver passed away peacefully at the South Okanagan General Hospital at the age of 91 years.
Fred and his twin sister Ethel May were born on November 24, 1918 in Shoal Lake, Manitoba to William Henry Beamish and Margaret May McLeod. Ethel May passed away a few months after their birth. Fred’s early years were spent on his Aunt Maggie’s farm.
From 1947 to 1974 Fred resided at Riverview/Woodlands. He was then transferred to Kirby Lodge in Penticton where he spent the next sixteen years and in November 1990 Fred moved to Beaver Lodge, here in Oliver.
Fred enjoyed many activities and outings; he loved his vacations to Kelowna, and his annual trip on the Kettle Valley Steam Railway as trains were one of his passions. His favourite spots at home were on his reclining chair in the living room visiting with friends or out on his porch swing watching the world go by.
A funeral service officiated by Pastor Cameron Ogilvie was held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday April 27, 2010 at the Nunes-Pottinger Funeral Chapel.
Interment and committal followed at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery.
