George Schroeder

Tribute
On Tuesday, May 5, 2020, Mr. George Walter Schroeder of Oliver passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 83 years.
He was predeceased by his wife Helen Schroeder; son Jamie Schroeder and brother John Schroeder.
George will be fondly remembered by his loving partner Moira Bryce; son Wade Schroeder (Lori); granddaughters Lynelle and Miranda Schroeder; great-granddaughter Emlee Haack; stepson Ken Rudd; brothers Gary, Jake, Wes and Abe Schroeder and sister Tena Nickel.
George enjoyed a long career working for Sommas Sawmill in Port Alberni and built many houses in his spare time.
He spent many happy winters in Arizona with his wife Helen and travelled to Europe and Australia with his partner Moira.
George spent many years as a volunteer fire fighter in Cherry Creek, Port Alberni. He loved to work and was an unofficial handyman at Cherry Grove Estates in Oliver. George also enjoyed playing pool and Texas hold ‘em.

You were one of a kindest gentlemen I knew with your sweet smile, gentle manner and kind heart – no wonder Moira you fell in love with you. Rest in Peace dear friend until we meet again. Our condolences to you and the family Moira from all of us who recently were blessed enough to find you and George in Oliver and get to spend some very precious time with you before George‘s unexpected passing. My Aunt Susan so happy to find him! You were both so welcoming and kind to a bunch of crazy ladies who invaded your life with a phone call and a visit the following day!
