Jennifer Mapplebeck
November 20, 1938 - April 8, 2015
Tribute
On Wednesday April 8, 2015, Jennifer Mapplebeck passed away suddenly but peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the age of 76 years. Born in England, Jennifer was predeceased by her parents George and Celia Watson.
Jennifer is lovingly remembered by her family: Brian, her husband of 46 years, her daughters Celia and Kathryn, and her grandchildren Alex, Lucas, Alyssa, and Keira. She is also survived by her sister Ann (England) and other English relatives.
Jennifer began her working life teaching equitation in Vienna, Austria. Later, she was employed as a bookkeeper for an auction house in England. Residing in the Okanagan, she worked in house-keeping services in the hotel industry.
Jennifer returned to England on holiday many times, to visit family. She also vacationed in Scotland, Denmark, Norway, Holland, Italy and the Dominican Republic.
Locally, Jennifer was active in many community organizations. She was a founding member of the South Okanagan Amateur Players, acting, singing and producing in dozens of shows. She was awarded a life-time membership on SOAP`s Board of directors. She devoted much energy as a director of the Oliver Community Arts Council for more than a decade. She also served with the Anglican Church Women. She lent her high soprano to the Yuletide Singers and the St Edward`s Singers. She loved caring for her horses at her rural home.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 18 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Edward Anglican Church. A reception will follow at the neighbouring Oliver Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Donations will be gratefully accepted for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon, #4 – 1551 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 9M9.

I was greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Jennifer. My
condolences to Brian and their family. I will remember Jennifer with
fondness. Her quick wit, her lovely smile and her gracious manner will
be missed. She was always such a good sport about singing with the Friends of The Oliver Library at our Christmas Coffee Hour, while Brian
provided the music. Jennifer was a wonderful, community minded
individual and her contributions to the Arts Community and other
organizations will be greatly missed.
