Tribute
On Tuesday September 1, 2009, Mr. Manuel Alves Farinha of Osoyoos passed away peacefully at McKinney Place ECU at the age of 83 years.
He was predeceased by his brother Alfredo Farinha. Manuel will be dearly and lovingly missed by his family including wife Felicidade Farinha; daughter Maria Fernanda Nunes (Alex) and grandson Chris and granddaughter Janine ; son Alfredo Farinha (Pamala) and granddaughters Racyne and Kayla; brother Abilio Farinha in Portugal and sister Maria Farinha in Penticton.
Manuel came to Canada in May 1958 and started working in orchards. He and Felicidade then bought their own orchard in 1966.
Manuel enjoyed playing malhas, fishing, family gatherings and barbeques.
Prayers will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday September 4th at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Rex Velmonte at 10:30 A.M. Saturday September 5th at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. He will then be laid to rest in the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery. A reception will be held at the St. Anne’s Catholic Church lower hall.
Donations are gratefully accepted for McKinney Place Extended Care Unit.
