Michael Pavan

October 9, 1954 - December 30, 2022

Tribute

Michael Andrew Pavan passed away quietly on Dec 30 2022 in his home with his wife by his side.

Mike was predeceased by his parents Rudy and Helen, as well as a brother, Tony.

He will be well remembered by his loving wife, Estelle; his sister Lesley; his brother Jerry and his big extended family as well as his many friends.

Mike grew up on a 125 acre farm near Chatham, Ontario.  He loved machines so he was delegated to look after the farm equipment and convinced a neighbor to teach him to run a backhoe. At 19, Mike drove west in his brand new Camaro, explored a bit of British Columbia and Alberta and eventually settled in Edmonton working the dirt with heavy machinery.  Edmonton was a rapidly growing city and in 1990, Mike formed his own business. In 2004, Estelle retired and owning his own business allowed him to spend the winter months exploring the warmer south in the RV going as far south as Puerto Vallarta.  At age 60 Mike sold his equipment and retired in Oliver.

Mike and Estelle joined the Royal Canadian Legion as a means to meet people in the community and became volunteers and eventually served on Council.

Mike loved his life. He loved the home he built in Edmonton, loved the RV and the many places it took him loved the motorcycle and, mostly, loved the people he met along the way.

We are all the better to have known him.

Thank you to Carmen, RN at SOGH for her help.

Dear Estelle – I will always be so grateful for the summer I got to work with Mike while he as at LenBeth. I wasn’t great at the 5:00 am wake ups for work and he’d always let me sleep when I fell asleep in the truck while we drove to work. He looked out for me and always took an interest in my life when he was at our house visiting my dad. He was such a great boss but more importantly a best friend to my dad through so many years. I’ll remember Mike’s friendly smile and his jokes, may all your special memories of him comfort you. You are right we are all better to have known him.
