Nancy Sieben

July 26, 1916 - April 25, 2015

Tribute

Nancy Sieben passed away peacefully on April 25, 2015 at Mariposa Gardens.

Nancy was born in Winnipeg on July 26, 1916. She was married on August 6, 1939 to Peter Sieben who predeceased her.

In 1972, they moved from the Coquitlam area and retired in Osoyoos. There Nancy enjoyed her family home in the orchard, gardening, going to ceramics and entertaining family and friends. Everyone called her Granny. She was always so peaceful, warm and comfortable to be with.

Nancy is survived by her sister, Margaret and her loving sons Ken (Karen) and Ron (Barb) and her daughter Lyn. Her daughter Gladys and granddaughter Debi predeceased her. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren Rob (Diana, Tyler, Trevor), Jim (Chelsea) Kelly (Shahriar, Ahva, Sara, Cyrus) Bill (Jennifer, Dylan, Rylee) Kenny (Mia, Owen, Sammy) Gayla (Santino) Lori (Todd, Paige, Zach) and Debi’s (Steve, Josh, Kylie).

Her family will always hold her in their hearts and minds, as she was such a gentle soul.

The family wishes to extend our gratitude to the staff of Mariposa Gardens and to Dr. De Vries, for the care and support our dear mother received over the last six years.

In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the Mariposa Ladies Auxiliary so they may continue to bring sunshine to the seniors in residence.

A celebration of life will be held in the summer.

Thank you.

The Sieben Family

What an amazing lady and what a life well lived!! We hadn’t seen Nancy for a while but will never forget what a fantastic and vibrant person she was. Always had a good time with her (and your father) and had many laughs over a glass of wine. Can’t help but remember Nancy learning to drive in the open space between her place and ours! Scared the living daylights out of our horse once and a while as she was learning….but what determination she had!!! I’m sure you all have some amazing times to remember. Our thoughts are with you all….a very special lady!!

Have known Nancy for a number of years – we have lost a real gem. She was always so positive, had a great sense of humour and was just one marvelous person. Saw her at functions at Mariposa latterly and we always had a nice little visit. She was so very proud of her family, always interested in their activities with love. You will all have treasured memories to share and cherish with the love you always showed to her.

Relation: Grandmother

We are very lucky to have had Granny for 98 years. She is one of the strongest women I have ever known. I will forever cherish all she has taught me over the years. I take comfort in the fact that she is now with Grandpa, Aunt Glad and Debi. When Debi was sick, Granny stayed with our family to help take care of her. They always had a special bond, as can be seen in the photo. I will always keep this image in my memory and picture them like this now.
