Pauline Rogers

September 3, 1923 - November 11, 2011

Tribute

On Friday November 11, 2011 long time Osoyoos resident Pauline Mildred (nee Seller) Rogers passed away at the South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver, BC.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM from the Osoyoos United church with Rev. Stephen Hershey officiating.
Daughter of Florence and Leigh Seller was born in Vancouver September 3, 1923. Pauline was the 3rd child of 3. In 1936 Pauline (age 13) moved with her parents and siblings from Vancouver to the Turner Valley Oil Fields in Alberta where she helped her father after school in the Seller General Store. Pauline also delivered the Albertan Newspaper every morning before school.
She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 2009; her parents Leigh & Florence (McMillan) Seller from Osoyoos; her sister Lorna (Seller) Rogers from Victoria, BC and her brother Donald Seller from Devon, Alberta.
Pauline will be fondly remembered by her loving family including two daughters Vivian Sampson of Calgary, Alberta and Ella Rogers (son-law Ross) of North Vancouver BC; four grandchildren Heather Chen (husband Fred) of Coquitlam, BC, Martha Sampson of Penticton, BC, Brian Lehman (wife Lorna) of Calgary, Alberta and Michael Sampson of Edmonton, Alberta; one great-grandson Trevor Chen of Coquitlam, BC as well as many nieces and nephews located throughout Canada & USA.
Pauline married Jack on June 20, 1945 and owned and operated a farm with husband Jack in the Tongue Creek District of High River Alberta, at which time she helped with all aspects of the farm operations. She enjoyed riding her horse Glory, was involved with the Farm Women institute, taught Sunday school and was director of the church Christmas & Easter children’s pageants at the Tongue Creek United Church in Alberta. Pauline and Jack sold the farm in 1956 and moved to Osoyoos where they built and operated the Rogers Motel until 1967. After the sale of the Motel, Pauline was an active volunteer in the community. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, cooking, knitting and loved her flower garden. Pauline devoted much love and energy in raising her two daughters and played a major role in her grandchildren’s activities and adventures. Pauline enjoyed music and became the drummer in a 5 member ladies musical band called the Powder Puffs for several years playing for community dances, in and around the South Okanagan area, as well as volunteer music at Sagebrush Lodge. Pauline loved adventure and traveled across Canada and throughout the USA with family and friends, Hawaii being her favourite fun spot. She canvassed for the Heart & Stroke Foundation and CNIB for many years and was an active member of the Osoyoos Golf & Country Club, and the Osoyoos Curling Club. She received the Certificate of Appreciation for volunteering in the talent show Sonora Community Centre in 2005 and she received the Certificate of Appreciation from the Royal Canadian Legion #173 for volunteer service in 2006. When Pauline moved to Osoyoos in 1956 she learned to water ski on Osoyoos Lake. She also was an active Curler and Golfer, enjoyed playing Bridge and Crib. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the CNIB. Condolence and tributes may be directed to the family by visiting www.nunes-pottinger.com .
