She will be lovingly remembered by Leslie, her devoted husband of fifty-three years. Her brother Eric (Irene) Nickoli and sister Ruby McRae – both of Vernon. Brother-in-law Wes, sister-in-law Loraine – both of Chilliwack, sister-in-law Margaret of Victoria, sister-in-law Anna of Vernon, and many wonderful and deeply loved nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her parents, sister Jean and brothers Jerry, John and Joe.
Rose began her teaching career in 1950 in Manitoba, moving to Chilliwack for a time before coming to Oliver in 1960. She enjoyed twenty-eight years teaching at Oliver Elementary.
Rose had a passion for travel and visited Poland, several Scandinavian countries, Britain, France, Germany, Canada from coast to coast and many parts of the United States.
Rose had a tremendous love for her community and volunteered with the Health Board and the Hospital Auxiliary including the hospital thrift Shop. She was also a faithful and dedicated member of Oliver Alliance Church. She helped with Sunday school, children’s clubs and was involved with every ministry at the church. Rose was well known for her creative flower arrangements and stage decorations.
Her faith in God sustained her through the past two months in Penticton Hospital.
Following retirement Rose was able to devote time for quilting, photography and recording family history, church history and auxiliary history. She spent countless hours in her yard and garden creating beautiful floral show pieces. Rose was also an avid sports fan, enjoying all the Olympic events and televised hockey games.
Donations gratefully accepted for S.O. Hospital Auxiliary or the Oliver Alliance Church Mission Fund.
