Ruth Mikolas

April 2, 1918 - February 5, 2010

Tribute

Ruth Mikolas, a resident of Oliver since 1940, left this world, gently and peacefully on Friday, February 5 in her 92nd year.

Ruth (nee Severin) was born April 2, 1918 in Gerald, Saskatchewan and was married to Ted Mikolas in 1939, they moved to Oliver shortly thereafter. Ted and Ruth built a family home and developed and worked on an orchard on the west side of Tuc-el-nuit Lake over the next 40 years, then retired into town in 1979. After almost 60 years of marriage, Ruth lost her soul mate, Ted in 1998. She moved to McKinnie Place in 2008 and was gently and respectfully cared for there until her death.

Ruth will be remembered with love by her six children; David (Rita) of Oliver, Alice Hewitt (James) of Toronto, Margaret Hagel (George) of Oliver, Ken of Oliver, Shiela Lange (Daryl) of Oliver and Terry Culpepper (Dale) of Chilliwack, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grand children and 2 brothers, Rudy and Walter Severin.

Ruth was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for 70 years. A funeral service for Ruth will be held at St. Paul Lutheran on Thursday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m. with an interment at Oliver cemetery. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that you make a memorial donation to the Lutheran Hour Ministries or a charity of your choice.

From: Jim MacNaughton

My sympathy to all the family. I remember Ruth with great fondness throughout our growing up years. She was a pillar of both her church, family and community and raised great kids! All of us pass her on into God’s loving arms knowing that her infectous smile and her great love of Ted will continue to grow in the life has been promised to us. Love and hugs from all of my family in the Okanagan and here in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.. Blessings. Jim
